Though this title is random, it wraps up everything we have done in science lately. Students have done various experiments involving inquiry. A big aspect of science in kindergarten is developing a student's ability to ask questions and seek answers. We have been learning about living things (hence the duck eggs and plants), and we have also learned that mixtures can be put together to make new things (hence the applesauce and bread). In addition, we have been studying how weather affects plants and all living things. Here are some pictures from our experiments.
Duck Eggs
We have had these eggs for 11 days now. Students are so excited to learn more about how long it takes for these ducks to hatch. We just received some duck books so we can learn all about the hatching process as well as how to take care of our ducklings once they hatch. I'll let you know when we figure out the date they should begin to hatch.

Making Bread and Applesauce
We had so much fun making bread and applesauce the other day. Here are some pictures from that day. The kids learned that it's quite a process to make homemade bread and applesauce, but it was sure worth it. I think everyone agreed that the bread and applesauce were delicious!

Planting Sunflower Seeds
We planted sunflower seeds several weeks ago. It truly is amazing to see how quickly these plants have grown. My students are absolutely fascinated with this. We also made rain gauges several weeks ago, and one of my students suggested that the water we collect in the rain gauge be used to water the plants. So that's exactly what we've been doing. My students have said we are recycling water! I love it because that's exactly what we're doing. Here are some pictures of our rain gauge and our plants.

Visit to the Combine Again
Our class visited the field by Kreft again. Timmy's grandpa was kind enough to show us how planting season works using the combine. He even gave each student a purple corn seed. My students thought this was so special! Here are the pictures from that day.
