Students had a lot of fun going to The Rose this past week to see Pete the Cat. For some students, this was the first time they had gone to a live play. What a show it was! Students had a lot of fun see Pete the Cat sing, dance, and act on stage. Here are some pictures from that fun day!
Other Learning Updates
We spent a lot of this week reinforcing the skills and procedures we had learned last week. In reading, we added Work on Writing to our skill-set. This is very similar to our Writers' Workshop time, except that students can write about whatever they want, and it takes place during our Readers' Workshop time. Work on Writing, along with Read to Self are two of the five tasks students will do during the Readers' Workshop while I meet with students in small groups. Since our stamina got up to 20 minutes in both Read to Self and Work on Writing, we will add Read to Someone to our list of things to learn next week. Below is a video from our Work on Writing time. At the beginning of the video, students are moving around quite a bit. They were still finding their "bubble spots". About half-way through the video, though, you will see students hard at work. I am so proud of their hard work. Being independent with so many tasks is quite difficult in kindergarten, but this class can do it!

In math, students continued to build stamina with Math by Myself and Math With Someone. They learned a new game called Race to Trace that they loved a lot. I will send home both math games we've learned later this week so that students can have additional practice. Students also continued to work on counting, writing numbers, and recording their thinking. Here are a few pictures from students' work during math:
